Boy o boy do I have a problem with how the torch writes it’s headlines for the ratings war. I do understand that they are headlines and they are supposed to grab readers and get new subscribers, with that said, they are skewed to look a certain way. By no stretch of the imagination did AEW surge ahead in viewership. AEW barely broke 800K in a week where they had Mike Tyson and Jericho closing the show, Brian Cage had his Dynamite debut and FTR made a surprise debut. This is a major loss for AEW, the new additions should have popped over a million views but since it didn’t it’s a complete failure in my eyes.

Honorable mentions

  1. Brian Cage is now in AEW and he debuted as well with manager Tazz, ready to go straight to the top of the card.

  2. Iron Mike Tyson is making a comeback and he debuted in AEW as well.

  3. FTR debut for AEW.

Final take

What a bummer? Can’t believe that FTR and Brian Cage didn’t get AEW close to one million views. The NXT Fight Pit also failed to bring in a ton of viewers. The war is not between AEW and NXT but with new viewers and whatever else they are already doing in their lives for fun. There is a chance that the views will go up next week but with that terrible segment from Mike Tyson and other things just not clicking in the promotion, I think AEW might actually lose some viewers.
