Fiend vs Randy Orton
What’s in the boooox?! Alexa Bliss pops the Fiend out of a Jack in the box and it looked awesome. The Fiend started the match with a clothesline from the top of the jack in the box. Orton was beat up early but tried to get back into the match. No matter what Randy Orton did he couldn’t keep the Fiend down. Sister Abigail pops up and distracts Bray, Randy wins with an RKO. The crowd wasn’t pleased, neither was Twitter but this story will continue and I am intrigued.
Women’s stage team match
Tamina & Natalya vs Shayna[c] & Nia[c]
Great match, really good spot on the card as well. The story of Tamina vs Nia was a great element within the match. I was sure Tamina was going to pin Nia which is what I believe should have happened but it looks like we are going to get a random title change on television to a less deserving team.
Sami Zayn vs Kevin Owens
Logan Paul needs to be on television every week if Sami is going to dance to his music. The match was great, told a story of their long history, with elements of matches they’ve had together over the years. The crowd absolutely loves Sami and Kevin. Kevin Owens finally beat some sense into Sami, winning with a Stunner. Sami and KO are crowd pleasers, Owens heard the crowd chant to stun Paul and he delivered.
Riddle[c] vs Sheamus
This match was so physical. Riddle and Sheamus are a perfect pair, the physicality of their matches are almost unmatched. Even the Sheamus slip from the top rope was respected by the crowd, that’s what it’s all about. Sheamus really caught Riddle clean for the finish. Riddle is very over with the crowd, I’m surprised Sheamus went over but Sheamus has been great since SmackDown moved to Fox.
Apollo vs Big E[c]
Wale did his thing but we kinda already knew Big E was going to lose. The match was pretty much a hardcore match; very physical. They put a beating on each other. Apollo’s drastic shift in character has to be balanced out with a strong Intercontinental Championship run. Big E will most likely be a challenger for the Universal title along with Cesaro and possibly Shinsuke. Dabba Kato was the deciding factor in the match, he broke up the pin, beating up Big E then dragging Apollo on top of him for the win. I like Dabba Kato being the muscle for Apollo, makes sense and gives both guys tons of legitimacy.
Asuka[c] vs Rhea Ripley
Well the live performance didn’t get any 5 star reviews, that was a bad lead in to the match. Also, it was tough to compete with the hardcore match before it. And, there was also a title change so this match was an uphill battle. It was the co main event which was great as far as what it deserved to be but there was also a very short build. Rhea Ripley winning clean was the right move. Ripley needs to beat Nia, Shayna, Charlotte at SummerSlam and then Becky at Wrestlemania. I think they may have Rhonda beat Rhea then have Rhonda and Becky at Wrestlemania one on one. I don’t know just fantasy booking a bit.
Edge vs Daniel Bryan vs Roman Reigns[c]
Not the outcome I wanted, I think that’s exactly what WWE was going for. Roman was finally booed for all the right reasons. Roman has a ton of heat on himbnow, ruining two stories in one night, in one match. He is the head of the table and now all must acknowledge him. The main event had everything we wanted, I was positive Edge was going to win like 3 times then I saw Daniel Bryan again the advantage so I thought he might win. Excellent close to an excellent weekend.
Honorable mentions
Backstage segment with Bayley, Bischoff, Hogan and Titus. Bellas beat up Bayley later.
2021 HOF
Final take
Night 2 wasn’t gonna be as good as night 1 but it was still really good, lots of fun. The crowd was into most of what was going on. The main event was awesome and closed the show the right way. Wrestlemania stood and delivered.
