Breaker breaker one-nine
There is a new kid on the block and he is anxious. Bron Breakker upsets LA Knight after Knight foolishly accepts his challenge. Knight, already scheduled for championship match later, bit off more than he could chew against the young upstart. Breakker got the Cena’s first match backstage segment with people giving him props and a noticeable appearance by a future Samoan Bloodline member.
New blood
Josh Briggs and Jensen are now a tag team and they aren’t so bad. The problem is they went up against crowd favorites Imperium. Jensen got noticeable boos, he had two body slams and the crowd wasn’t feeling that. Imperium are very much over, glad they won.
The baddest debuts
I like how in the promo Hit Row had before the match they spoke for B Fab, then she chimed in.
B Fab beats one of my favorite luchas. She looks too big but that’s just an optical illusion, she just thick. Katrina Cortez is good but a style clash isn’t what you want for your first match in a long time or your debut.
After the match, Fab calls out legado. I smell a big war games match coming. Electra Lopez is a great addition to Legado and hopefully the War Games match will be dope too.
Melo don’t miss
Carmelo Hayes has business to attend to and a bodyguard. Trick Qilliams will now be aging the roll of Bishop in NXT’s version of Juice. Trick claimed to have the gift of gab and the gift of jab; he needs to work on relaxing when he gets on the mic but he did display that jab.
Duke Hudson came out on some bullshit and got stomped out for it. I love it! This bodyguard is brutal and he will turn on Hayes down the line. It’s a classic hood movie like Juice, the old friend goes too far, turns evil and the good friend that wants to do the right thing must defeat him.
Gigi Dolan & Jacy Jayne vs Kayden Carter & Kacy Catanzaro
Kinda looked like Raw booking, the usual DQ. However, the NEW Mandy Rose interrupted. She looks amazing, if she is only a little bit better this is a big win… she is MUCH better and actually shined in every way in this match; she even got the win. Sign me up for this new faction. Kayden and Kacy really need to move up to the main roster, swap them with Shotzi and Knox.
Mine yo business
The Creed Brothers looked impressive against some really good jobbers. I mean, the jobbers have to make you look great and they really did their job. They looked scared and pathetic.
Malcolm Bivens has to be someone Vince is looking at to go to the main roster next year, he has all of the talent on the mic anyone could ask for. Diamond Mine has a new member, Ivy Nile.
Kushida challenges Strong after the in-ring promo from the heels.
And new
Kyle O’ Reilly was taken out earlier in the show, good because he is so boring I fall asleep every time he pauses. Von Wagner is inserted into the match for saving KOR, the crowd hated it. They booed every spot of his, this was a classic Vince move, one of very few this evening so I’m happy. I thought Knight was going to win because he took a loss earlier in the night,; I thought he’d get his win back. Knight was busted open pretty badly during the match, I thought the bleeding wouldn’t stop. Dunne was my next choice but old man Ciampa pulled out the victory. So much for that narrative that Vince is all about young talent and hates old guys.
The wedding of In-Dex
Austin Theory returns and brings Damian Priest, great to bring a star back; perfect call. I liked that the groomsmen dressed like Lumis. The wedding went off without anything ruining it, that’s gotta be a first, I was sure that something silly would happen and derail the whole thing. The priest was choked out and screamed “don’t do this” before Lumis put him to sleep but that was only monkey wrench. But the very best part of all is the baby bump Candace was showing! OMG!
Honorable mentions
Holland squashes Maverick. Maverick is probably going to Raw.
Tony D’Angelo vignette is intriguing, I like him already. I like an Italian mob guy from Chicago being on a show where people get beat up.
Final take
There will be liars that say this show was average, there will be those that say, it’s worse; don’t listen to them. The look and feel are fresh but it’s still NXT. If this is the vision of Vince then we are all on board.
