Smell the Rose(s)

Mandy Rose came looking her best, as she always does. She became champ, and the crowd showered her with praise. Mandy just be cursing, I aint even mad. Toxic Attraction takes out Zoe Stark in the back so Io Shirai heads to the ring to take out Mandy Rose. The only problem is that she didn’t have the numbers on her side until Kayden Carter and Kacy Catanzaro showed up.

Dakota Kai vs Cora Jade

They cashed in Cora Jade’s win streak for nothing. They have so much talent that they could have used anyone for this squash match and beatdown. If Cora and Kai end up having a long feud then fine but these things don’t always go as planned. Tegan Knox never got her revenge match, where is she by the way? Maybe she will end up back in NXT.

The Mighty Quinn

Xyon Quinn kicks Robert Stone’s ass after out performing him in a karaoke battle, I like that this guy doesn’t take this too seriously,

he even thwarted Stone’s attacks during his performance instead of just knocking him out. I like when wrestling can be silly and entertaining within the confines of good taste.

O’Reilly & Wagner vs Legado

Wagner is not going to earn O Reilly’s trust with losses. Legado win and have Elektra at ringside to help their image, helps them look important. Legado is on its way up and it looks as if KOR is on his way out, his contract expires very soon.

Lashing out

Lash Legend roasts everyone’s costumes from the Halloween party on NXT. Tony D’Angelo puts everyone on notice while humiliating someone. Lashing out needs to pick it up, there is so much more that they can get done but they are easing into it. This could and should be a modern version of Piper’s Pit.

Solo Sikoa debut

I would, and so would everyone else, prefer if he just went straight to Raw or SmackDown. I wasn’t impressed because I didn’t see anything I’ve never seen before but the guy looks ready, he looks credible.

Boa vs Waller

L A Knight on commentary means that there will be shenanigans. Boa really needed a strong win, it’s now or never for him. I think he has a cool look but I’ve yet to see a promo from him, if I did it wasn’t very memorable. Like I said before, this is a good feud to have and this is a good way to slowly heat it up. Boa wins via distraction from LA Knight. Knight better elevate Waller when they have their match whether he wins or loses.

Carmelo[c] & Trick vs Gargano & Lumis

In a backstage segment, Trick says, “you’re still alive?!” to Andre Chase which was hilarious because last time we saw Chase he appeared to have been eaten by zombies. Andre Chase is squashed by Bron Breakker later.

I liked this match even though it had some silly moments. Lumis had the match won but Trick hit him in the head with a shoe which was hilarious. I love the authenticity of Trick Williams. Garagano isn’t going to beat Melo for the title so I think he should have won here.

Honorable mentions

  1. MSK try to find themselves.

  2. Vick Joseph looks awful in that blue Jean jacket.

  3. Biggs and Jensen vignette.

  4. The Poker Room Duke and Cameron.

  5. Breakker gives Ciampa his props after beating Andre Chase.

Final take

This show was more of a double than a homerun. Stories progressed a little bit but not enough for my taste. I’m looking forward to seeing if the new talent is worthy of being put over by the veterans and where they all go from there.
