Samoa Joe starts the show
The End playing at the start of the show set the tone for the show while getting you pumped for the rivalry between two brutal men.
Fish & Kushida[c] vs Diamond Mine
Kushida taps out Rust. Nothing of note happened in this match. The match was as good as any other but the story isn’t coming together, Diamond Mine is boring. Don’t get me wrong, I like everything going on with them, the problem is that there is not enough going on.
Frankie Monet vs Jack Jane
Jessie Kamea is in her corner Robert stone trying to talk to Kamea and latch onto Monet’s bandwagon. Another competitive squash with Mandy Rose scouting.
KOR vs Austin Theory
Even Jim Cornette had to watch this one. I’ve been impressed with Theory since I first saw him, now it’s time to actually give him the push he deserves. Theory worked a solid match and he is just more interesting than Kyle. Kyle had a Jekyll and Hyde moment when Austin tried to use the steel steps, a flashback to what Cole did to him. It was weak as hell to me. An attempt to give KOR some more depth to his personality, while also adding an edge to his in-ring work. Kyle just doesn’t have my attention yet.
It’s a smash hit
Santos Escobar calls out Hit Row and Hit Row answers, not exactly what Escobar wanted. I really like these two groups, it’s even better that they are feuding with one another. I want Legado to come out on top but tonight wasn’t the night. Hit Row beat the hell out of Santos and his men. I’m not sure I would have this match this soon but its gonna happen, hopefully they line up some tough opponents for Swerve after he retains against Santos.
Andre Chase vs Odyssey Jones
Slightly clunky in a couple spots but a good showing for Jones. Chase’s only chance to make it seems to be being part of a large group and being jobber out, he didn’t look like much at all.
Jones won in a quick competitive squash, all eyes on the big man’s next match. Jones has to be a heavy favorite to win the breakout tournament.
Maverick vs Knight
Drake wins via shenanigans
knight stomps Drake post Match and demands Grimes get in on it
Xia Li vs Raquel Gonzalez[c]
How far we have come, a feud we didn’t even know we were gonna get and certainly one we didn’t know we wanted but man o man do we want it! Xia kept coming back no matter what, really strong match for both women; showed off their strengths perfectly. I was messaging a friend about how far these two have come and then it happened; Gonzalez hurt Li, landing right on top of her. Broken ribs at least, that’s my guess. To everyone’s surprise, Li was granted permission to continue the match only to be powerbombed. Aew would have just continued without a doctor even checking anything. Gonzalez did the right thing by playing into her heel character, impressive work from the champ.
Tik tok
Samoa Joe comes out looking for Kross but Karrion was having fun elsewhere. Joe said that someone would be asleep by the end of the show but no one ever thought that it would be William Regal. Kross is a true heel, he understands the game better than anyone right now that isn’t named Roman reigns. Kross is fine, he wasn’t buried and he won’t be, let’s enjoy the ride because this guy is going to take us to some interesting places.
Honorable mentions
Imperium interrupt MSK.
Pete Dunne and Oney call out Ciampa and Thatcher.
Final take
This is the NXT we know and love. Excellent stories everywhere you turn, solid in-ring work and great character development. Since moving to Tuesdays, NXT has been on fire.
