This is 2.0

NXT starts with the future in the ring and it’s past staring them in the face. Ciampa is playing HHH’s surrogate while he’s out. Talent after talent comes strolling out of the back to speak up about their intentions to challenge Ciampa. The men already in the ring with him are the ones that will be the most important going forward though.

I love how chaotic this segment was, there were matches being setup all over the place, even in the back in the women’s division. The drama in the back involved B Fab, Kay Lee Ray and some others.

Time is up

Kushida[c] vs Strong

We knew it was coming, Kushida dropped the title to Strong in a decent match, not at all Takeover level but still good. Interference from the Mine lead to Strong capturing yet another NXT title, the only one he has yet to hold is the Heavyweight title; he will be the first grand-slammer in the promotion.

Before Roddy could even get the title around his waist Grayson Waller appears. His theme slaps, what the hell they mean Vince is out of touch, he has picked some good music lately.

Chase University

The Uuuuuuu! Man what was that segment? It was great who wrote that? WWE hasn’t done great funny fresh comedy in FOREVER. No way you should be missing the little skits on this show now.

Cameron Grimes vs Joe Gacy

Joe Gacy is like right to censor meets Kevin Owens, he looks like a youth pastor; love the gimmick. Gacy spoke of NXT being a safe place, live what they are doing. Competitive match, Joe Gacy is a guy to keep your eye on, he has Bray Wyatt vibes. Gacy hugs Grimes after the match adding depth to his already crazy character.

Ryback vibes

Odyssey Jones has a 2 on 1 match; it was actually pretty damn good. He isn’t exactly Ryback but it’s easy to see the comparison. Let’s hope Jones works a lot better than the big guy.

Vera Loca

A title opportunity has already found Frankie Monet, Raquel Gonzalez puts the championship on the line next week. Lashing out, a new talk show by someone I have never seen before, I hope she acts better than she did in this segment. They chose an interesting spot to introduce that person.

Toxic attraction

“They definitely fine” Wade Barrett knows just what to say. They about to get me in trouble with my wife from watching this. Mandy Rose didn’t need to be any finer but it certainly isn’t going to hurt. A flub on the mic hurt Mandy but she’s supposed to be hated now so it works. What kind of magic enchantment poured her into them pants though? Gigi gives me big Paige vibes, she has some serious skills on the mic. Jayce Jane is what they wanted Chelsea Green to be. This group is promising.

Zoe and Io get called out during the promo but are not on the same page, perfect time to introduce a new person we don’t know.

Break em off

Ciampa[c] & Bron Breakker vs Pete Dunne & Ridge Holland

Bron is beyond good, his wrestling IQ is crazy

Breakker made Holland look small. Holland also got exposed a bit, he’s still green enough to give him a slower push. Ciampa and Dunne were great but the highlight was the new kid on the block. Breakker and Ciampa win, the only question is, when will Breakker challenge Ciampa for Goldie?

Honorable mentions

  1. Another Tony D’Angelo promo.

  2. Great promo Briggs & Jensen from inside a bar.

  3. Ikemen Jiro MTV cribs style promo

  4. Kay Lee Ray gets a quick win, building momentum.

  5. Dante Chen beats Trey Baxter while walking out to Castlevania music.

  6. Electra Lopez calls out b Fab after her squash match and Legado answers. B Fab jumped Lopez from behind.

Final take

The music is VERY vibrant in NXT. Down south by Wale is a HIT. So many new faces that it’s almost hard to keep track of. Every title scene is popping, the tag division looks promising and new stars are on the rise; STAY TUNED!
