Drew and Big E have a heated exchange. The way two babyfaces are supposed to feud. The Usos talk big shit and send shots, eventually they challenge the babyfaces to a main event match.
KOR
Xavier Woods vs Ricochet
Xavier Woods takes a long look at the crown and gets pumped up for his match. Not really feeling this tournament being a big thing for him, it seems a bit manufactured instead of a natural push. Woods wins a damn good match from Ricochet but that’s just it, Ricochet did most of the work. Once Ricochet takes promo classes he’ll be someone that can challenge for the Universal Championship and actually win.
Breaking up is hard to do
Ali & Mansoor vs “the Hurt Business”
Ali and his protégé lose another one. This was all just to further the story between a veteran and a rookie. After Ali attacks Mansoor during an interview backstage and the break up is official and so is the match at Crown Jewel.
Rusty Crown
Shayna vs Dana Brooke
Shayna wins easy. They just had this match, it was nothing to write home about last week. There has been plenty of chatter online about how poor this tournament has been. I hate to admit it but this tournament sucks. There have been no good matches, no buzz or hype for the tournament since its been announced and no one cares who’s gonna win.
Burned out
Riddle[c] vs Omos
Riddle stalls and the crowd boos. This crowd was kinda harsh all night. Riddle was absolutely bombing but they could have been much worse. AJ Styles saved the day with some very quick thinking, he grabbed the mic and got the heat back on him and Omos. Omos wins easily but Styles called for more violence. Orton’s music hits and the Viper surprises Styles with an RKO out of nowhere.
I have a Theory
Jeff Hardy vs Austin
Maybe Jeff Hardy wants to put over young talent and doesn’t care about wins and losses anymore…just like he said. Theory grabs the tights to wins; looks like that check out. Hardy is going to SmackDown where he will eventually get a title shot against Reigns so none of this is hurting him at all.
KOR
Jinder Mahal vs Kofi
I would have liked to see what Kingston and Woods could do against each other but Jinder won. Plenty of hate online for this booking but I’m not against it. Kofi has had his time in the sun but I’d rather see him win than Woods, now that it’s Woods and Jinder, I’m hoping their rematch is a barn burner.
More crown
Doudrop vs Natalya
Doudrop still has bad music and people on the internet believe that she can’t wrestle; this is the gimmick from hell. It’s actually not that bad but it’s just not serious enough. Let her talk more and make her a little more like Riddle or something.
Doudrop beats a defeated Natalya with a roll up. Poor poor Natalya, get her sister in there as her manager and turn her career around please.
Bianca Belair & Sasha Banks vs Charlotte Flair[c] & Becky Lynch[c]
The crowd boos the pre match shenanigans
So Pearce and Deville “restart” the match that never even started just to have it end the way it never began…The match still ends in DQ, the ref got tired of that shit. No wonder the crowd was heated.. it was actually some decent action though.
Main event
Usos[c] vs Drew & E[c]
At least this was an actual match. The women’s match was pretty silly. The problem is that they did the same thing in this match that they just did with Bianca and the rest. Drew stands tall at the end. The Usos should have won though.
Honorable mentions
Lashley promo on Goldberg
Final take
The crowd sucked, not the show…okay, maybe the show sucked a little bit. It certainly wasn’t as bad as the internet says it was but it didn’t feel fresh. Some had radical headlines that were just going too far with their perspective but hey, WWE should have had better quality control on this one.
