Raw Quick Takes 8/23/21

Champ vs champ

Bobby Lashley was talking that good shit but Damian Priest wasn’t trying to hear all of that so he challenged him to a match. Lashley went to change but it didn’t take long for Sheamus to show up and disrupt things. At least Drew had Priest’s back. Priest and McIntyre are the only 2 babyfaces that try to have people’s back.

It’s made into a tag match, Lashley leaves Sheamus to take the pin. That was a 40 minute long segment/match; the crowd liked what they got so it worked.

Dropped

Piper Niven officially takes the name Doudrop and Eva jumps her doing an interview. Piper is doing pretty good, hopefully they see something in her. That name Doudrop is fucking stupid, I don’t like that she kayfabe cooped the name, makes her look like a simp, not like a powerful individual.

Karrion Kross vs Ricochet

Looks like Ricochet is fodder but more importantly than that, Kross has a giant helmet that makes him look like someone made He-Man part of M.A.S.K. Characters have come back from worse but this is a big blow to how seriously the fans can take Kross. Ricochet needs to put his foot down and have a meaningful feud with Kross.

Moist TV

Special guest Logan Paul is HATED by the crowd but I see that as a good thing, they need to just go with it and make him a heel so that he can sell some PPVs. People wanna see Paul get his ass whooped so build it up! The Miz and Morrison tease breaking up again.

Miz vs Woods

Miz putting in some work, looking good since he’s been back, looks a bit more fit and more agile. Moz loses and takes his frustrations out on his former best fan. The crowd reacted well for the beatdown.

Jinder vs Mansoor

Jinder gets disqualified making the match pretty much useless. Ali and Mansoor need waaay more time and segments to make their story something people really care about. Maybe involve a title shot for the United States Championship

Next challenger?

This crowd cheering Charlotte makes sense, they are garbage. The queen delivers her paint by numbers victory speech when Alexa Bliss makes her presence known. A good challenger for Charlotte but will Alexa win? Bliss is a multi time champ so this could be the start of another run but I believe she is just fodder on a depleted roster.

Nikki A.S.H & Rhea Ripley vs Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler

At least match made sense, I can see where they are going with this. They’ve been doing it for a while and I’m actually on board with it. I’m not sure if Nikki and Rhea get a tag title opportunity, it could just be something for them to do.. Nia and Shayna need to split so that they can elevate the division with some good midcard feuds.

A celeBROtion

Randy gets a scooter from Riddle but the former tag Champs salty and weren’t trying to hear all of that. Styles talked crap to Riddle but something told me the match was going to go a little differently this time.

Riddle vs Styles

I’m glad Riddle didn’t win with Orton’s finisher, keep Riddle authentic. This story is the best thing going on Raw.

Final take

When the crowd isn’t playing along, it can be a rough show. Luckily, they got better but WWE should be careful about what they present in front of live crowd, they aren’t going to put up with a lot of bullshit. The pacing was good and I liked tbe show, wish some segment were longer and some were shorter. Where we go from here is far more intriguing.
