Raw Quick Takes 9/13/21

Raw has a new look and a new feel, this was the right time and the right show to give the people what they want. Big E came out and let his intentions be known. Orton and Riddle already have beef with MVP and Bobby Lashley so they were out to start the show as well. Maybe Orton has a chance, doesn’t matter because as soon as he wins Big E is going to become champ anyway.

A Flair for the dramatic

Long awkward match, the problem with Charlotte is that she’s always booked the same way, dominant, not a moment where it looks like she is gonna lose. So the story she tells in the ring is bland and one note with no depth. This was a clash of styles. Charlotte won and Shayna takes another L. After the match Alexa Bliss had a present for the queen.

Drew and the jobbers

Viking Raiders and Drew take on Jinder and his crew for no real reason at all. They need to put some effort and story into these things. We all know Drew is headed to SmackDown to dethrone Reigns but does he have to be involved in pointless matches on Raw before he is drafted to Fox?

Priest[c] vs Hardy

Sheamus had lots of fun on commentary. He was just there to jump them after the match and what a fine match it was. Hardy brought Priest to another level. Hardy needs a run at a Heavyweight title just one more time.

A.H.S.

A backstage altercation leads to a match with Nikki and Tamina, while Sonya DeVille has a hard time figuring out what Nikki’s name is. The match was fine, Tamina has been doing some really good work since being paired with Natalya. Huge botch, the ref botches it so does the announcer. Tamina’s music plays but Nikki won but Tamina got her shoulder up also. The crowd boos, Tamina because this was AEW Dark levels of botching. Tamina beating down Nikki after the match got the crowd back into things as the next match started.

Ripley vs Natalya[c]

Good strong showing for Ripley, she has been booked well enough on her main roster run and Natalya is great whomever she works with. I’m guessing that after a few matches that Ripleye and Nikki get the belts, the real question is who turns on who?

Omos a super hero

The man with the push is Omos and his booking straight up reminds you of that, he wins a Slugfest with Mansoor, Ali and the New Day. Styles, TBar and Mace were an afterthought in this match.

Please do drop this gimmick

The crowd hated this and they are right to. That Doudrop name is stupid, it’s a cool name for a move but that’s it. Piper won, I hope this is finally over, get that stupid music out of here too. They set Piper Niven up to fail on her own and they gave her awful gear that looks like she is going to pop her top at any moment.

It’s a new day, yes it is

Orton and Lashley did their thing buy that’s not what we were here for. All night Big E had been telling the whole world he was going to take the title from Bobby Lashley. Big E really did it. In the past, I would refrain from speaking on what Twitter had to say about certain segments but no more! There was outrage over the commercial break during Big E’s cash-in but it was a good thing because the break built up suspense for the live crowd and the way Lashley sold his injury I legitimately thought he was injured.

Now that we have a new WWE champ and the draft is in a couple weeks, I’m expecting the landscape of the WWE Championship to change drastically.

Honorable mentions

  1. Chucky has been heavily promoted during Raw and its worked because I’m going to set my DVR

  2. Kross backstage promo. Kross came across seriously and that’s how we should take him. He has great promos and solid mic skills.

Final take

This show had a big show feel to it, not because Sean Ross Sapp “leaked” stuff that we already knew(because Big E told us he would be on Raw Friday on SmackDown) but because the booking was solid throughout the show. Raw generally doesn’t have
