SmackDown Quick Takes 9/17/21

Big E[c] & Finn Balor vs The Usos[c]

No one knows Paul Heyman more than Brock Lesnar and he’s caused lots of problems for Paul. Lesnar isn’t the only one that wants a piece of Roman Reigns, Big E and Balor Club make an appearance but the show goes ro commercial. When we return, there is already a tag match in action. The champ and the challenger win a good opening match. Big E is brutally attacked in the back after a Heyman interview in which Kayla Braxton demanded answers from Paul, he accused her of flirting and having a crush on him. 

Roode awakening 

Rick Boogs vs Robert Roode

This match was quick and didn’t set the world on fire but the crowd liked it. Boogs, Nakamura and McAfee all celebrate in style. After the victory, Apollo and his Commander break up the party with a big boot! Apollo asked “is this your king?” A line that the crowd loved, this is a necessary feud between royalty.

On a Roll(ins)

Rollins looking like the MTV awards trophy in a silver suit. He describes what he did to Edge as if he didn’t do it then goes to a video package to make us all relive it, what a dastardly heel. This sort of thing just goes by most wrestlers, this sort of attention to detail isn’t as cool as their flips so they skip over this stuff. Seth blames the fans while name dropping NXT and Beth Phoenix’s name; glad he watches. At Extreme Rules, Seth wishes to move on from Edge…after he kills him.

Zelina Vega & Carmela vs Toni Storm & Liv Morgan

Great to see all 4 of these women but they need to be in separate feuds, which is exactly what they setup after the match. To the crowd it was just a bathroom break but these ladies are super talented so they eventually got the crowd interested. Loved Storm’s gear but she needed to shine more in the match. Vega and Mela walk off because Melanie hits her nose, what a stupid VKM thing to book. Liv wants a match with Carmela at Extreme Rules and this is the start of a mega push for Liv…I think.

Dominick vs Sami

Rey comes out for support but Sami wins anyway, making it 3 straight. I just want to hear Dom challenge Rey so we can see one of the best matches ever.

Homecoming

Becky spoke on Bianca during a backstage interview with Kayla, saying that she might visit the celebration.

Kane, the mayor of Knox County gives her a key to the city, this was a huge moment for Bianca, fans were really into it as well. Right on time,  Lynch shows up to spoil all of the fun, almost catching the KOD but instead delivered a Manhandled slam.

2. Happy Corbin attacks KO before their match and it never takes place.

3. Street Profits do a good promo in the back, this is what got them over in NXT

Final take

Whoever says SmackDown is a bad show is lying and sees things only the way they want to. This is the best wrestling show there is and one of the absolute best shows on all of television, period.
