Feel the glow

Naomi vs Shayna Baszler

Naomi wins and Sonya comes out and restarts the match over a technicality which was actually correct. Shayna puts in the Kirifuda clutch and wins. I suppose the story is working but let’s say Naomi gets over, how does she stay over after this? Is she going to be more over than any other babyface in the division?

Shot through the heart

Shotzi is definitely a heel and even said she is ditching the tank. She looks like a badass, sounds like a badass and I believe every word she says. Shotzi is so unique, she is one of the most authentic people on the roster, there’s not a lot you need to script for her. This feud with Sasha will elevate her to the moon, she may even get the title pretty soon; Charlotte holding it isn’t doing anything for anyone at the moment.

Mansoor & Cesaro vs Angel Garza & Humberto Carillo

Garza and Carillo got a victory or 2 before leaving Raw so it seems like they are on a roll. On the other hand Cesaro being in another tag team is sad. I don’t think he’ll ever want to leave WWE and I hope he doesn’t but I want to see him at the top of the card. Of course the IWC will overreact.

Los Lotharios win, that’s Garza and Carillo’s new tag name; I see gold in the future.

Another open challenge

This week, Ricochet accepts the challenge, slapping Drew to get him mad. I like the edge but Ricochet is still a very shaky promo. Drew hits a Claymore on Ricochet while he is in mid flight and gets the dramatic win. Good for Drew, bad for Ricochet, I don’t know what they need to do with him.

Bend a knee

King Woods vs Jimmy Uso[c]

An excellent way to further this long rivalry is to add different stakes. Having to bow a knee to one another is a pretty big deal because the Udos and New Day have battled at the top of WWE’s tag team division for years. Jimmy lost so he had to bow a knee to king Woods. I was pretty sure that Woods would lose but I’m glad he didn’t. Before Jimmy could fulfill his duties, Roman Reigns saw to it that the New Day knew their place. Roman jumped Woods from behind and the 3 mangled Kofi and Xavier. If Woods gets a title shot it’s gotta be great, it should be followed with a Kofi Kingston title shot. That gets Roman to 500 days as champ with so fresh matchups. Since the New Day is a tag team it doesn’t really hurt their credibility but it does pad Roman’s record.

Final take

Lots of setup for things in the future. It was a decent show but just a single compared to the homeruns they usually hit. Roman remains the central character so its going to continue to be a good show as long as that is the case.
