Prelims:

Lyman Good vs Ben Saunders

Well the clinch was good but Lyman was even better; see what I did there?! Lyman Good ate quite a few knees but knew Been Saunders could only take so many of those uppercuts.

Lyman by TKO

Julio Arce vs Sheymon Moraes

Sheymon Moraes eraly but Julio Arce was able to recover and get back to his feet. Arce used the fence to get onto the back of Moraes with a very slick move!

A deep cut in he 2nd put this fight in jeopardy of being stopped. Arce found himself on his back in the exact same position as the 1st round after a big right hand from Moraes.

Moraes stayed active and on his feet the entire 3rd but Arce did not let him control the round. These guys had plenty of energy to spare, too bad it wasn’t a 5 round fight.

Moraes by slit decision

Sijara Eubanks vs Roxanne Modafferi

Both were very active but I gotta give the 1st round to Sijara Eubanks for the 2 takedowns she scored.

Eubanks caught Modafferi but Modafferi managed to end the 2nd round with a takedown.

Modafferi fought a good fight but she was rocked too many times and despite her attempts to reverse her position on the ground she couldn’t really get anything going. Eubanks controlled the 3rd with relative ease.

Eubanks by unanimous decision

Jason Knight vs Jordan Rinaldi

As expected, Jason Knight came out swinging and ended up on his back.

“Jason Knight is as tough as they come!”…yeah, at getting his ass kicked on the ground. Knight could not shake Jordan Rinaldi even a little bit. Rinaldi controlled all 3 rounds, searching for a rear naked choke for 95% of the fight.

Rinaldi by unanimous decision

Main card:

Derek Brunson vs Israel Adesanya

0-25 for Derek Brunson’s takedown attempts and it inevitably led to his downfall. The 2 exchanged blows and Brunson went down unable to keep up. Israel Adesanya had to land more than one big shot to put Brunson away though. That well timed knee from Israel was why he is on his way straight to the top of the UFC.

Adesanya by TKO

Karl Roberson vs Jack Marshman

Karl Roberson had some serious power behind his punches, catching Jack Marshman with some shots right on the jaw. Marshman displayed a hell of a chin in the 1st. Roberson seemed to back off quite a bit in the 2nd, securing a takedown to conserve strength and secure the round.

Roberson’s game plan was clear after his leg injury became apparent; ground and pound. That’s exactly what Roberson did for the duration of round 3.

Roberson by unanimous decision

David Branch vs Jared Cannonier

David Branch wanted to end things as easily as possible by taking Jared Cannonier down but Connonier wouldn’t stay down.

Branch had control of the fight until Jared landed a right hand that absolutely rocked David Branch. A fight can change in an instant, especially when you got power like that and some serious ground and pound skills. A great result for a short notice fight.

Chris Weidman vs Jacare Souza

I’m reminded of the old guard of UFC when I see Chris Weidman, Rich Franklin comes to mind.

Weidman cracked Jacare Souza but failed to capitalize. Speaking of Rich Franklin, Weidman took some big knees from Jacare to end the round.

Jacare definitely opened up his striking in the 2nd round but he was actually the one that was busted open.

The 3rd round was a WAR. I had Weidman winning on the cards and winning a split decision but Jacare pressed forward like a warrior and landed a shot on the temple of Weidman. Weidman literally fell in slow motion; I’ve never seen that before!

Souza by TKO

Daniel Cormier (c) vs Derek Lewis

I love how Derrick Lewis started by using different things in his arsenal like leg kicks; gotta keep DC on his toes. Daniel Cormier wasn’t on his toes though, he was on top of Lewis for the entire round.

Lewis couldn’t stop the wrestling of Cormier and therefore fell victim to a rear naked choke. Lewis knew he was out of his league but soldiered on anyway.

Cormier by submission

A great night of fights, hard to ask for anything better than that.
