25 years of the UFC are revisited tonight in Denver, Colorado; UFC using all of the old graphics, logo and music which surprisingly hold up extremely well today. Both Raw and UFC turned quarter of a century this year.

Main card:

Michael Trizano vs Luis Pena

Luis, violent Bob Ross, Pena; what a name. Pena out worked Michael Trizano but by an extremely slim margin. Pena was overly aggressive but it seemed to pay off.

Trizano made Pena pay when it came to striking and was able to pull off an impressive reversal on Pena while on the ground.

The over pursuit by violent Bob Ross led to tons of good shots landing for Trizano. Every time Pena got Trizano down, Trizano got right out of it. The striking between these two was compelling even when they missed. Each of these guys are so highly skilled that this was a chess match through and through.

Trizano remains undefeated.

Michael Trizano via split decision

Maycee Barber vs Hannah Ciphers

Hannah Ciphers has HANDS. Maycee Barber had to eat quite a few very clean, hard punches to into takedown position. Ciphers takedown defense is pretty good so Barber worked in some head kicks to try and score a knockout.

Copers got opened up badly at the very start of the second round with an elbow. Ciphers was tough but not tough enough to withstand the absolute onslaught that is Maycee Barber. The ground and pound from Barber was reminiscent of the old days. Barber has an extremely bright future in the UFC with her skill set.

Maycee Barber is on roll, 6-0 and nly 20years old. Barber called out Mackenzie Dern and demanded to be on the main card because she is someone to watch, with those Florian like elbows, she certainly is.

Maycee Barber via TKO

Beneil Dariush vs Thiago Moises

Despite two guillotine attempts, Beneil Dariush finished the first round atop Thiago Moises. Dariush made his living on the ground this fight; Moises had no counter. Pretty paint by numbers for Dariush.

Beneil Dariush via unanimous decision

Raquel Pennington vs Germaine de Randamie

It was an up hill battle for Raquel Pennington the entire fight. Germaine de Randamie had the clear striking advantage in every exchange. The clinch worked well for Pennington which she forced de Randamie into early and often. Pennington could not stand and trade with de Randamie for any length of time; every time Raquel took a punch she would back de Randamie to the fence.

Germaine de Randamie via unanimous decision

Donald Cerrone vs Mike Perry

The home town hero was in battle of the clinches early on but Donald Cerrone periodically broke away to chop away at Mike Perry’s legs. Perry was the one to score a takedown first but Cerrone quickly reversed his fortune and took the back of Perry. One thing to remember is that Cerrone is dangerous at all times, even with just 14 seconds remaining in the first round. After a struggle, Donald Cerrone became the all-time leader in finishes and wins in the UFC. What a landmark event for the 25th anniversary.

Donald Cerrone via submission

Chan Sung Jung vs Yair Rodriguez

Fast and furious! Firing leg kicks and lightning fast punches from the very start. Yair Rodrigiez struck rst but the Korean Zombie struck often. Beautiful technique by both fighters with incredible front kicks. Both guys really excited to be fighting and be in the octagon with one another.

Yair was on the fence early in round two but a misplaced knee from him broke up the action. Yair had the speed advantage, narrowly missing viscous shots from the zombie.

The third is where Yair Rodriguez really opened up his arsenal; spinning back fist, various kicks, you name it Late in the round the zombie took a big kick right to the head and continued on.

The zombie wobbled Yair in the 4th and really busted up his nose. Zombie grazed the groin of Yair during an exchange but the ref ordered that they continue.

Round five was a tribute to the awesomeness of the UFC. This one was headed to decision and in one final flurry, with 10 seconds to go Yair Rodriguez threw an elbow that knocked the Korean Zombie out cold at the buzzer!

Deep energy tanks on reserve for these two warriors; five rounds in high elevation. Each round ended with action. Multiple times both fighters landed the same strike on each other simultaneously; talk about skill!

Yair Rodriguez via KO

Hell of a card featuring young fighters who are sure to be the future of the sport. Tonight was ll about the art of MMA; highly skilled-technical fighters, displaying their unique abilities they’ve honed within their discplines. History was ade by a future UFC hall famer, Donald Cerrone. He became the mam with the most finishes and wins in UFC history passing GSP, Anderson Silva and Michael Bisping. I certainly loved the celebration of history between and during fights; a great way to honor all that UFC has done for MMA.

25 years and counting.
