Draft Night 1
Draft picks
Roman Reigns
Charlotte
Drew McIntyre
New Day
Corbin & Moss
Hit Row
Naomi
Jeff Hardy
Heavy is the head
Reigns is confronted by Lesnar after Baltimore acknowledges him; the Bloodline goes to Suplex City.
A public service announcement from Brock is actually critical information for the draft itself. Brock is a free agent! Lesnar also puts a target on Heyman’s back by involving him in his announcement. Backstage, Roman has Paul Heyman shook, yelling at him and threatening him. Sounds like the Usos may end up on Raw if Paul Heyman doesn’t do his job. Roman literally told the Usos to “Leave him for dead” if they aren’t drafted to SmackDown.
Back home
Drew talks about his past, present and future, wants to make it on SmackDown because he was once a failed wrestler on the blue brand. I’m looking forward to Drew being the one to dethrone Roman. I want to see Roman vs the Rock at Wrestlemania for the title but that is very unlikely. Drew is Stone Cold in this story and Reigns is the corporate Rock so let it at out.
KO vs Happy Corbin
Corbin wins via shenanigans with his associate Moss involved. I’m pretty sure Owens is leaving WWE soon so I don’t really care what his booking is like right now. I do hope that he makes the best of his remaining situation.
Home away from home
Seth shows up at Edge’s house instead of confronting him in the ring like we all thought was supposed to happen. The jacket Seth was wearing was great. More classic heel stuff like, raiding the refrigerator and criticisms about his home and family; it really shows you Seth’s depth as a performer and his understanding of his character. I need to see Seth Rollins play a villain in a movie, preferably a bond type movie.
Really smart segment, Edge calls Beth and tells her Seth is at the house and tells her to go to her brother’s house. A detail that made Edge look smart instead of making him do something really dumb. I loved everything about this.
Face-off
Carmela vs Liv
Rematch, I need Livs character to evolve and stop being so one note; climbing the corporate ladder. Carmela continues to do a great job at being a heel. She put on a mask so that Liv couldn’t mess up her face; such a classic heel move. Carmela is reaching Miz levels of good which is why the women’s division needs a midcard title.
Wrestlemania rematch
Sasha vs Bianca
Sasha went over which definitely surprised me. Another surprise was Charlotte kicking the shit out of both of them after the match. I have no idea what’s going to happen on Raw with Charlotte on the blue brand and Becky there as well. I’m thinking Becky goes to Raw.
Great commentary from Big time Becky during a great story. Bianca has really done well for herself. Her push isn’t manufactured and there is no one doing the heavy lifting for her in or outside of the ring.
Honorable mentions
They need to stop painting Kayla Braxton’s face. She is gorgeous, she doesn’t even need makeup. She certainly doesn’t need as much as they put on her.
New Day and Street Profits vs dirty Dawgs & Alpha Academy was a banger, definitely not a bathroom break.
Final take
Drafts always feel big time, this one was no different. There were some unexpected picks and some undesired ones as well. This show really set up Raw to be a home run.
