The Bloodline vs Los Mysterios & Edge
The crowd was hot for this match, they cheered wildly for Edge and booed Roman with a proper respect; you love to see it. The bad guys cheat and they win, that’s how these things work. Roman really worked that crowd, so proud of the heels for doing masterful work. This is the awesome work we needed from Roman years ago.
Return of the Prince
Sami Zayn wanted the crowd to rally behind his conspiracy theories but he got his ass kicked instead. The man that did the kicking was none other than Finn Balor! So many possibilities now that a centerpiece has returned to SmackDown. Please let Balor be the one to beat Roman just as he did years ago when he was drafted to Raw.
Tamina[c] & Natalya[c] vs Shotzi & Nox
Zelina and Liv Morgan on commentary was pretty great, the back and forth was fantastic, very catty but with a seriousness to it. The rookies win again, the match wasn’t bad at all, the crowd was fine, just a little tired from all of the energy they put out earlier.
Tamina takes things out on Zelina and Liv because they were responsible for the distraction that cost them the match. Liv turned the tables on Natalya and Liv Morgan stands tall. Great multi-women segment, I hope they remember this when booking anyone with Charlotte on the screen at the same time.
Bianca[c] vs Carmella
Bianca is a star, she got a huge pop, coupled with the great heel work of Carmella, the match was a success. Very happy with this division, its champion, the challengers, the midcard, its all really coming together. Just a few changes were made, some unexpected but those changes have had a huge impact on SmackDown.
Fatal 4 way
Hot hot hot! The crowd was hot, the wrestlers were hot, the action was hot, the commentary was hot; it was all hot! The last two spots were crazy, not as crazy as they will be at Money in the Bank but they were still crazy. KO landed an elbow from a ladder onto Shinsuke and the commentary desk. Seth then Curb Stomped Big E’s head onto a ladder for the win.
Honorable mentions
Michael Cole was especially fantastic.
Alpha Academy beat up Cesaro.
Vince greets the fans.
Seth teases Edge backstage
Final take
Welcome back to the old WWE, the fans make it what it is and they did not disappoint. Well done job by the crowd to show everyone why fans are a great part of the whole show. The Thunderdome era was great for a lot of reasons, one reason being that the fans will now appreciate the product far more than they ever have. No more taking talent for granted. But the fans are the ones that lift the talent up, buy the shirts and cheer for them, they are essential to a wrestler’s success. Cheers to a new era of fandom(hopefully).
